Doris P. Rowell, 83, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away early Friday morning, February 20, 2009 at Wilson Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, William Rowell, Walton; cherished son, Stephen and his wife, Melissa, Apalachin, two grandsons, Spencer and Alexander; four sisters, Emma Howland, Arizona, Gertrude Loker, Barbara Northrup, and Louise Peck, all of Walton; and two brothers, Winford Peck, Sprakers, and Warren Peck, Walton. She was predeceased by her parents, Warren and Hazel Jaycox Peck; two brothers, Thomas and Ivan; one sister, Rhoda Russ. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doris was born in Walton where she graduated from Walton High School. She lived in New York City for four years after graduation with her sister, Rhoda, and worked at the headquarters of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church as a secretary. She later worked for Tom Ogden, Real Estate, and Richard Pond, Insurance, Walton. She was appointed Walton Village Clerk and held this position for 15 years. She was a volunteer for the Board of Elections and also volunteered at Delaware Valley Hospital. She attended Northfield Community Church. Doris loved her family dearly and enjoyed butterflies, Princess Diana memorabilia, poetry, quoting Bible verses, and playing jokes on people. Her love of life and good heart is an inspiration to her family and she will forever live in our memories.

Friends may call on the family from 9 until 11 AM on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Riverside Alliance Church, 110 Stockton Ave., Walton, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM

Interment will take place on May 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Walton Cemetery.
