Dorothy "Dot" Barnes, 87, of Walton passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Senior Living At Ideal in Endicott, NY.

Dorothy was born March 27, 1927 in Unadilla, the daughter of the late Perry and Grace (Luther) Shaver. She married Elmer Barnes and they owned and operated Barnes Dairy Farm in Walton. She had several special children in and out of her home in her lifetime. She enjoyed taking care of her house plants, knitting and crocheting, going to auctions, and caring for her horses.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family, her sisters and brothers, Lois McCarthy of Oneonta, Russell Shaver of Walton, Carol (Homer) Newell of Binghamton, Sara (Paul) Lowe of Unadilla, Sandra (Ed) Schleier of Delanson, Mary Shaver of Binghamton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Elmer, her sisters, Alice Adrich, Beverly Steel, Betty Marriott, her brothers, Douglas, Arthur, and George Shaver.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton from 11AM to 1PM where services will be held at 1PM with the Rev. Larry Light, officiating. Burial will follow in the Paige Cemetery, Downsville.
