Obituary

Dorothy I. "Dottie" Barnhart, 86, of Walton passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, following a short illness.

Dottie was born on November 16, 1928 in Kortright, the daughter of the late Roland and Bessie (Dietrich) Bowker. She married Richard Barnhart on August 10, 1950. He predeceased her in 1964. She was employed by Delaware Valley Hospital, for many years as an LPN, where she later volunteered. She attended New Hope Community Church, and "Our Place" in Walton. Dottie loved walking in town and being outside in the sun. She looked forward to working at the Delaware County Fair and could always be found watching the horse show. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing UNO with her grandkids, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one son: Randi & Donna Barnhart of Downsville, NY; grandchildren, Roxanne, Joshua, Gabriel, Kyra, Nolan, Deniece, Lori, Sonia and Tonia; several great and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian and Bruce Hodge of Walton; special nieces Tammy Tompkins, Colleen Bartlett and son Jarod, several other nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Doris Groat and Velma DeMorier. Dottie was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Closs, a granddaughter, Dawn Closs, a brother, Carlton Bowker and a sister, Ruth Bartlett.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 10 AM to 12 noon at the New Hope Community Church, 45 Stockton Ave., Walton where services will be held at 12 noon with Pastor Larry Light, officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
