Obituary

Dorothy I. Baxter, 89, of Sidney passed away on February 12, 2014 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY, following a short illness.

Dorothy was born on April 8, 1924, in Randolph, NY to Fletcher and Leona (Walsh) Sample. Dorothy graduated from Randolph Central in 1941. On April 10, 1942, she married Rudolph G. Baxter of Walton, NY. He predeceased her in 1984.

Dorothy attended the Susquehanna Valley Baptist Church in Oneonta, NY, and the Pines Brook Baptist Church in Walton, NY. She enjoyed playing organ and the piano, especially for church. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family, her three sons: Ted and Dawn of Endicott, NY, Dan and Patricia of Havana, FL, David and Tena of Castle Creek, NY; her three daughters: Barbara Carpenter of East Branch, NY, and twins, Donna and Lloyd Glasner of Jacksonville, FL, and Debra Baxter of Oak Hill, NY; her 9 grandchildren, Mark, Brian, Kevin, Michael, Michelle, Renae, Danielle, Melissa, and Nicole; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jeanette Funcell of Jamestown, NY; her brother, Dean and Jean Sample of Graniteville, SC; her sister-in-law Edna Sample of Randolph, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Charles Sample and brother-in-law James Funcell.

In honor of Dorothy's wishes, a graveside service will be held in the spring at the Walton Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Dorothy's memory may be made to Walton Cemetery Association, 55 Fancher Ave., Walton, NY, 13856.
