Finn
July 23, 1929 – April 25, 2016
Dorothy Jane Finn, age 86, passed away on Monday, April 25th, 2016 following a long journey with Alzheimer's disease.
Although Jane's memory had faded, she continued to value the relationships with everyone she came in contact with, and most of all she never forgot her Faith. Her example led many to Christ as it will continue to do so. She was often heard quoting her favorite phrase from the Apostles Creed, "And Life Everlasting Amen".
Dorothy Jane Finn was born on July 23rd, 1929 in Queens, New York to William and Florence Wagner Carney. She graduated from All Saints High School in Brooklyn.
Jane was married to John Finn on April 17th, 1952 in Red Hook, New York and together they raised their family until his passing in 1992.
Jane moved to Walton from Hicksville, Long Island in 1962, and was a housekeeper throughout her life. She was an active member of Saint John's Roman Catholic Church in Walton, where, over the years, she served on the Altar Rosary Society and Human Life committee, was a Religious Education teacher, and most importantly to her, participated in Eucharistic Adoration.
Jane had a large loving family, and an even larger group of loving friends. Jane had a gift for connecting with people and loved helping others. She made a party out of everyday life. She was involved in every aspect of her grandchildren's lives. She enjoyed attending everything from concerts and parades to school events and ball games, where she was loved by many teammates and friends. She was a cheerleader at the games, and off the field to the many who knew her.
Jane was predeceased by her husband John (Jack), sisters Mary, Pat and Floie, brothers Billy, Jackie, and Bobbie, as well as great grandchildren Ethan and Natalie.
She is survived by her sister Ann Sanders of Calverton, NY, sons Jack (Vicki) Finn of Clinton, NY, Mickey Finn and friend Kelly and daughter-in-law Jackie of Walton, NY, daughters Mary Finn of Walton, NY, Jean (Jack) Newkerk of Delancy, NY, and Brigid (Tim) Maguire of Walton, NY.
Grandchildren include: Shane (Gina) Finn, Ryan (Megan) Finn, Kellen Finn, Monica (Matt) Carpenter, Wyatt and Sally Finn, Justin (Julia) Huyck, Jackie Huyck, Lindsey (Mike) Reynolds, Jake (Erin) Newkerk, Zach and Jacyln Newkerk, as well as Timmy, Molly, Katie, and Tommy Maguire.
