Obituary

Dorothy L. "Dot" Lang, 60, of Walton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 3, 2007 at home.

Dot was born in Cortland, NY on July 30, 1946, the daughter of the late Calvin and Dorothy May Burch Riggs. She was a graduate of Cortland High School, class of 1964. On February 27, 1965 she married Robert Lang in Cortland. They moved to Walton shortly after their marriage.

Dot was a charter member, and current president of the Walton Fireman Ladies Auxiliary, She was also a member of the Delaware County, Central, and State Ladies Auxiliaries.

With Dot's passing the Walton Fire Department family lost a loving, caring, and generous soul who always stepped up when there was work to be done. She never complained of the task at hand, no matter how hard, and made it fun. She loved a joke and was always laughing. Her smile would light up a room. But most of all she loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put the needs of her family and others first. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved playing BINGO, where her homemade pies were always a treat.

Dot is survived by her loving husband, Bob, a daughter, Lori and Joe Cetta, Walton; a son, Mike and Laurie Lang of Sidney; grandchildren, Christina, Rebecca and Anthony Cetta of Walton, Jordyn and Justyn Lang of Sidney; a brother, Charles Riggs, of Homer, 3 sisters, Eleanor and Morace Dutcher, Cortland, Patricia and Walter Pugh, Arkansas, and Judy Jacque of North Carolina, mother and father in law, Paul and Martha Lang of Cortland, brother in law, Charles and Nancy Lang, Cortland, sister in law, Patricia Savage of Brookhaven, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and by the many children she lovingly took care of over the years. She is also survived by her Walton Fire Dept family who loved her presence and her grace. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Calvin and Dorothy Riggs, a sister in law, Ronnie Riggs, and 2 brother in laws, Tom Savage and Jim Herrin.

Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, March 5, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home 25 Townsend St. Walton where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM with the Rev Jay O'Connor, officiating.
