It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Doug W. Wacha on Wednesday July 23, 2025, at home.

Doug was born in West Milford, New Jersey on November 1st, 1962. Doug graduated from the West Milford School system and began a career as an Iron worker and carpenter. He moved to Walton approximately 12 years ago to join his family members who had previously relocated to the Walton area from New Jersey. Coming from a family of five children, close in age, tight bonds were formed.

Doug spent the first few years of his life living with and assisting his mom and was becoming a real adventurous cook and housekeeper. Never minding the good-natured teasing of his siblings, who nick-named him "Hazel." He was quick to laugh!! He loved the family gatherings where fond memories of growing up in a large family were remembered and retold.

God gives each of us a gift: Doug's gift was a true desire to help people, never looking for a return favor, treating everyone with respect and friendship. If you needed help with a project, he would be packing up his tools!!

Doug is survived by his mother, Maureen Wacha, sister Dorrie Buttel, brothers; Russ Wacha (Deb), Steve Wacha (Jean), and Chuck Wacha. He is also survived by his daughter Dani Benton of North Carolina, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Willard Wacha.

In keeping with his nature of informality, an at-home memorial service will be held in the coming weeks.
