IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas C.
James
April 7, 1959 – February 23, 2018
Douglas C. James, 58, of Masonville, formerly of Downsville, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday evening, February 23, 2018 at The Hospital, Sidney.
Doug was born on April 7, 1959 in Montrose, PA; the son of Phillip and Jean Lorraine (Walczak) James. He was a graduate of Blue Ridge HS, New Milford. He married the former Karen Ricco on September 9, 1996 at Downsville. Doug was happily self-employed as a Blue Stone Quarryman, throughout Delaware County and Pennsylvania.
Doug enjoyed collecting marbles, antiques, attending flea markets and fishing. If it was older than him he liked it. The most important things to him were not the trinkets, ornaments and antiques, but his family and friends that he loved so much. The good times of his life were with the people he loved.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Karen, one daughter: Staci James of Walton, NY and one son: Kyle & Angela James of Masonville, NY; his father Phillip and mother Jean Lorraine (Walczak) James; New Milford, PA; stepson, Michael Ricco of Walton, NY; step daughter, Christina & Ed Gales of Treadwell, NY; grandchildren, Katelyn Winter James, Rachel & Emily Tompkins and Abby Antzack; brothers, Jeffrey & Barbara James, New Milford; Byron & Linda James, Endwell; aunts & uncles, Dorothy Porto, David James, Richard & JoAnn James, special nieces and nephews, Jessica, Kaspar and Kolton Hein, Jacob James & Nicolas James, Gina Russo, special friends, Mark Tompkins, James Tomao, Jim and Serena Tompkins, & Tim Stanton, also many other friends, his "Furbabies" Bailey Bones, and grand-furbabies, Chief & Cutter, plus all his friends that he met along the way. He was predeceased by a nephew, Det. Dustin James.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1 PM with the Rev. David Cramer, officiating. Burial will be in the Miller Family Cemetery, Clark Summit, PA later in the spring. There will be a gathering following the service, at a place to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or the funeral home to defray expenses from his unexpected passing. If one would prefer, the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, PO Box 88, Delhi, NY 13753, would be an appropriate choice, due to his love of animals.
