Douglas A. VanLoan Sr., 71, a long time Walton resident, passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 18, 2011 at Delaware Valley Hospital of Walton.

Douglas was born on September 14, 1940 in Hancock the son of the late Donald and Dorothy (Somers) VanLoan. He was employed by Del-Met for over 25 years, S.J. Bailey's, and finally at the Walton Big M.

Douglas enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing horseshoes and cheering for his favorite baseball and football teams, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. Doug was friendly and always smiling, and had a great sense of humor.

Douglas is survived by his children, Robin (Jim) Cucciarre of Athens, Tennessee, Roberta Hume of TN, Pam (Phil) Pantozzi of TN, Roxy (Joe) Shepherd of IL, Doug (Jackie) VanLoan Jr. of TN, David (Brianna) VanLoan of Walton, NY; his grandchildren, Dustin, Kyle, Shana, Brittani, Erika, Noah, Tristan, his sisters, Faye Anderson of Norwich, NY, Linda (Carl) Whitaker of Walton, NY, Bonnie VanLoan of Walton, NY, Sherrie (Bill) Murphy of Walton, NY and one brother: Donald (Fran) VanLoan of GA; his aunts and uncles, Thurston and Patty VanLoan, Luella Rogers all of Walton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald, his brother, Ronald, and a nephew, Jeffrey S. Mead.

Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, September 21, from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 11AM with the Rev. Stephen Blews, officiating.
