Obituary

Edward W. "Ted" Hammond, 71 of Walton, passed away Thursday morning, October 20, 2005 in Delaware Valley Hospital, after a long illness.

Ted was born in Walton,on November 7, 1933 the son of the late Jay and Marie Howell Hammond. He first married Mildred Northrup who died on July 5, 1983. He then married the former Melba Grainger on Nov. 16, 1985. He served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He was employed as a Machinist, for Del-Met of Walton. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Delhi Golf Club. Ted like to cook, read books, work with wood, spend time with his grandchildren, watching them play sports, and play golf. He also spent time repairing golf clubs.

He is survived by his wife: Melba, three daughters: Karen Falco (Fred) of Maryland, Susie Moore (Brett) of Oneonta, Kris Hammond and her significant other Doug Clark, Oneonta; four sons: Steve Hammond (Sandy) of Mclean, Tom Hammond (Marcia) of Walton; Marc Hammond (Annette) of Walton, 3 step children, Kathleen Hessinger (Gary); Duane "Gary" Hime, both of Walton; Andrew Hime (Deborah), Idaho 11 grandchildren, Rachel, Aaron, Wade, Drew, Margaret, Freddie, Maria, Josh, Shane, Lucas, Liam, 1 step grandson, Ethan, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Jerry; 4 brothers, Doug, Albert, Raymond, and William Hammond, 4 sisters, Alice Turner, Katherine McRabie, Barbara Moore,and Dorthea Cowan.

Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, October 25, 2005, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Suzanne Cole, officiating. Interment will be in Walton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Ted's memory may be made to Delaware Valley Hospital, or Catskill Area Hospice. Envelopes for memorial contributions are available at the funeral home.
