Edward M. Ward originally from New Rochelle, Rye, and Walton, New York passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Delaware Valley Hospital.
Edward will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force as a corporal in the 18th anti submarine squad in World War II. He attended Packard Business College of New York and worked for Exxon until 1977 retiring after 32 years. He was a Boy Scout leader Troop 3 and a little league coach for the Beavers in Rye. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and mining rocks, and minerals. He was an avid Yankee Fan.
Edward is survived by his children, Susanne (Craig) Connolly, Virginia (John) Treganowan, Robin (Ed) Dassler, James Ward, Frank Ward, his 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his foster daughter, Charlene (Dan) Cornel, his sister in law, Anne Verrill, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In 2011 he lost the love of his life Gay after 68 years of marriage. He was predeceased by an infant son,Frank Edward.
A graveside service will be held at 1PM on Wednesday afternoon, January 16, 2013 at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York, with full military honors. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, New York.
