Obituary

Edythe L. Bowker, 62, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 23, 2019 after a long battle with poor health.

Edythe was born and raised in Walton graduating from Walton High School in 1975 where she was active in drama and an award winning archer. At 16 she became a nanny in Long Island during school breaks and fell in love with mentoring, traveling and general "adventuring". After high school, she attended college and adventured across the country before returning "home" to Walton where she worked at the bakery and then took a job as a teacher's aide at the school.

While she loved all things related to being around "the kids" as she called them, she found her true passion when she became a part of the drama club, writing and directing plays and finding creative ways to invest in the lives of anyone lucky enough to be a part of it.

During summer and school breaks she could be found at the Macy's Day Parade , the Walton Fair, creating jewelry with her "beading heart " friends, and traveling around Europe teaching drama and other unique arts such as clowning and maypole dancing. Her summers spent in England were her happiest times.

She will be remembered as the "fun aunt" full of whimsy, a great conversationalist who always had an interesting story to tell, a kind and sweet spirit who shared both a listening ear and a word of wisdom, and a friend and mentor to many including any stray cat who crossed her path.

She is survived by her loving family, her mother, Martha, a brother Robert (Darlene) Bowker, nieces and nephew Jennifer (Derek) Baker, Elizabeth (Charles) Burger, Jeremy (Kyrie Kirn) Bowker and great nieces and nephews Emilie and Dawson Baker, Alexander Burger and Joshua Bowker, several special aunts, uncles, cousins; her cat and companion Sadie, and many dear friends who loved her as family. She was predeceased by her father, Donald Bowker, a sister Theresa ,and several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank those that loved and cared for her and brought joy to her last days, especially her aide Brandi and her driver and friend Frank. A private service will be held by the family. A remembrance service will be held in Walton in the near future.

In lieu of flowers please consider a small donation to the Veterinary Clinic of Delhi for the continued care of Sadie. Arrangement are with the Courtney Funeral Home , Walton
