Eleanor Delores Schultz, 82, of Walton passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, following a long illness.

Eleanor was born on April 8, 1930 in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Victor and Sophie (Ptak) Powell. On October 14, 1950 she married James T. Schultz at the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Syracuse. He died on December 10, 1997.

Eleanor was a member of the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Walton where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Altar Society. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, painting, crocheting, and knitting.

Eleanor is survived by her loving family, her children, Sharon Gruver, Doreen and Ken Closs of New Jersey; Patricia and Kirt Roe of Corning; James Schultz of Walton; her grandchildren, Emily, Rebecca, Morgan, Kevin, Kirt,Jr., Brandon, Christopher, Ashley, Hailie, Jessie, Gerrie, her great grandchildren, Lydia, Christopher, Belle, Dominic, Bella, Gavin, and Hero; her brother, Richard and Carol Powell, and her sister, Arlene and Jack Wheeler, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning, December 15, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Holy Cross Church, 4112 East Genesee St., Dewitt, NY 13214, with the Rev. Msgr. J. Robert Yeazel, officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Queen of Peace Way. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eleanor's name may be made to Catholic Charities, 33 West Williams Street
