Obituary

Elizabeth B. Field, 87 of Clarence, formerly of Hamden, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2005, in the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, NY., after a short illness.

Mrs. Field was born on April 14, 1918, in Franklin, the daughter of the late Norman and Cora Gilbert Cole. She was a Practical Nurse, employed by Fox Hospital Nursing Home, Oneonta. Her first husband, Stanley VanValkenburg, passed away in 1964. She later married Cecil Field, who died in January 2003. She was a former member of the Hamden Senior Center, and the Clarence Senior Center. As a young mother and housewife, she helped her husband in the operation of the family farm. She always had time for her children, running them to ballgames and 4H programs. She loved to crochet, and make quilts, she made fantastic pies, and always made people comfortable with her friendly smile. She attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Williamsville.

She is survived by two sons: Philip VanValkenburg Sr. of Mt. Upton, NY, Michael VanValkenburg and his wife, Vicki of Salem, Virginia; a daughter, Anna Cuyler, and her friend Larry Porto, of Clarence; 9 grandchildren, Deb Kleiner, Philip VanValkenburg Jr., Victoria Kravetsky, David VanBuren, Shane VanValkenburg, Diane and Michael Cuyler, Ruth Ann Senecal, and David VanValkenburg, 13 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Morgan, Tim, Nicole, Tim, Muriah, Tina, Ariel, Brianne, Mikayla, Thomas Michael, Alexandra, and Kosei, one brother: Byron Cole of South New Berlin, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 husbands, Stanley VanValkenburg, and Cecil Field, 1 son, Francis VanValkenburg, in 2001; 1 grandaughter, Nicole Lynn VanValkenburg, in 1970, 4 brothers, Willard, Paul, Philip, and Arthur Cole, and a sister, Thelma Figary.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, June 17, 2005 from 5 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
