It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth M. “Betty” Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on May 25, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on January 25, 1941, in Walton, NY, to her parents; Wellington and Edith Green.

Betty took joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for bowling and would often be found at the local lanes, sharing laughter and camaraderie with friends. Square dancing was another of her joys, where she celebrated each twirl and dip with an infectious enthusiasm. Elizabeth cherished the time she spent playing pinochle with family, where hours would drift by filled with lively conversation and cherished memories.

Betty and Philip were married for 66 years before his passing on May 14th, 2025.

Betty is survived by her loving family, her children; Cindy (Scott) Stevenson, Philip (Roxanne) Smith, Jr., and Renne (Raymond) Grossman-Smith. Her brother-in-law; Larry Smith, and her two sisters-in-law; Linda Smith and Carol Finch. Her grandchildren; Jesse, Chris, Carly, Nichole, Avery, Morgan, Julie, and Kendra. Her great grandchildren; Noah, Abby, Myia, Cy, Nova, Sylvia, Hailey, Teegan, Greyson, Bode, Beckett, Aden, Lane, Kellan, Gavin, and Meaghen. Betty is also survived several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband Philip R. Smith, Sr., her parents Wellington and Edith Green. and son in-law Raymond Grossmann.

Calling hours will be held Friday June 5, 2026, 11am – 12pm with service at 12pm at New Hope Community Church 45 Stockton Ave, Walton, NY 13856, with Rev. Larry Light Officiating. Following the service there will be a graveside service at the Walton Cemetery.
