Ella Mae Wood, 69, of Walton passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at UHS Wilson Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

Born July 2, 1949 in Walton, she was the daughter of the late Florence Mae Franks.

Ella was a graduate of Sidney Central School, class of 1967. She loved the outdoors, music and beautiful spring time flowers in bloom. Ella spent most of her life caring for those who meant the most to her. She would always put her family and friends before herself. Ella was known by the name "Grammy" to many of the children she help watch and raise over the years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, soon to be great grandmother and friend. Ella will be truly missed by and remembered by all.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 46 years Earl Wood, Jr. of Walton; the lights of her life, her children Lisa Nichols (Brian) of Walton, Richard Wood (Donna) of Walton, Janice Young (Ken) of Downsville and Tina Wood of Walton; the other lights of her life, her grandchildren Tiara Barnhart (Logan), Dakota Nichols, Kailee Young, Kerry Young, Kenneth Young, Delana Wood and Richelle Wood; one great granddaughter on the way, Layla Kate Barnhart; Brother Allen Vermilyea (Gail); nephew David Vermilyea; niece Michelle Mae Vermilyea and special cousin Marsha Stickcane. Ella is also survived by several brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is pre deceased by her grandmother who raised her Jennie "Ma" Franks and Brother Tom Franks.

Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A graveside service to celebrate Ella's life will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 1 P.M. at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Pastor Larry Light officiating.
