Ellen M. Wood, 68, formerly of Walton, passed away on Sunday evening, August 2, 2009 at her home in Bloomville surrounded by family.

She was born in Corbett on September 24, 1940, the daughter of the late Stiles and Verna Edwards Fairchild.

Ellen worked as a material handler for the former Eureka Tent Co. in Walton until her retirement.

She enjoyed crocheting and bird watching, but Ellen's biggest joy was her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important thing to her.

Ellen is survived by her daughters, Barbara Wood of Downsville and Ginger (Ron) Roach of Bloomville; sons, Kenneth (Alfreda) Wood of Walton and Todd Wood of Alabama; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Martin of Walton; two brothers, Charles Fairchild of Mt Vision and Jackie Fairchild, Sr. of Walton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her infant son, Michael Wood; two brothers, Stanley Fairchild and Doug Fairchild; and a sister, Jean Seaman.

At Ellen's request there will no calling hours, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
