Elvira (Vi) Mae Sherman Tompkins of Thonotosassa FL, formally of Downsville, entered into rest Thursday, August 21, 2008, she was 87.

Elvira was born in Walton, Dec. 5, 1921, daughter of Gordon and Mary Olmstead.

She was predeceased by her husband Martin "Pete" Tompkins and long time companion Robert "Bob" Tompkins.

Survivors include her six children, Carolyn Frost and husband Charles Sr. of Pine Bush, Mary Wilder and husband Jack of Casselberry FL, William Sherman and wife Carol of Tampa, FL, Joan Antonello, of Kings Park, Roger Sherman and wife Cathy of Fort Myers, FL, Richard Sherman and wife Nina of Tampa, FL; and a niece, Donna Tomkins Dougherty and husband Richard Jr. of Franklin.

Elvira had 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Vi had been a cook at Lake Delaware Boys camp, The Round Up Ranch and the Downsville Diner. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, going Camping and Fishing and going to Bingo with her friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday morning September 13, 2008 at Paige Cemetery, Downsville.
