IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma P.
Howland
September 25, 1918 – March 25, 2016
Emma P. Howland, 97, of Lakeside, Arizona, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at The Carriage House Assisted Care Residence in Snowflake, AZ, following a long illness. Emma was born on September 25, 1918, in Corbett, NY, the daughter of the late Warren and Hazel (Jaycox) Peck. She married to Owen (Dick) L. Howland on May 7, 1944. Owen preceded her in death on June 8, 1997. Emma relocated to Arizona the year following Owen's death.
Emma was a talented seamstress and retired from Eureka Tent Company in Walton, NY. Previously she worked in the Walton Bakery and at the War Plant in Sidney, NY during WWII. Emma met Owen on the train traveling between Walton, NY to Sidney, NY. Prior to her marriage she worked at a Factory in Walton, and as a Care Giver for other relatives.
Emma briefly attended Nyack Missionary School and graduated with a major in Domestic Arts from Delhi Agricultural School (now Delhi Technical School). Emma was a true domestic artist and her first love was sewing and right behind that was fishing. Her sewing creations were unequaled and beautifully made, and many a morning had her packing her gear to go fishing. Emma was a long time member of the United Presbyterian Church in Walton, New York.
Emma is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Sandra and Bruce Paulow of Lakeside, Arizona; her sisters Gertrude Loker, Barbara Northrup, & Louise Peck, all of Walton, NY. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ivan Peck, Winford Peck, Warren Peck, & Rev. Russell Thomas Peck, and her sisters Rhoda Russ & Doris Rowell. There are many surviving nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11AM at the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East Street, Walton with Rev. Dale Ashby, officiating.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1789 W. Commerce Dr. Lakeside, Arizona.
