Emma Irene Munyon, 79, of Walton since 1996, formerly of Queens, passed away on Saturday evening, January 14, 2012 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, following a long illness..

Emma was born on December 20, 1932 in Queens, the daughter of the late Ronald and Grace (Ryan) Herbst. On January 7, 1956 she married James I. Munyon, Sr. in Perkins County, South Dakota. He died in February 1992.

Emma was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family.

Emma was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Walton.

Emma is survived by her loving family, her children; James I "Luke" (Trina) Munyon, Jr. of Walton; Michael Munyon of Queens; Patricia Jaycox of South Dakota; Cathy (Dave) Munyon of Walton; Daniel (Lorraine) Munyon of Buffalo; her grandchildren, Patricia, Dawn, Chris, Angela, Michelle, Danielle, her great grandchildren, Adriana, Damien, her sister, Jeannette (Dave) Maxwell of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Ronnie, Danny, and Jimmy.

Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 17-25 Benton Avenue, Walton, with the Rev. Edward J. Golding, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
