Walton-Emma J Shackelton, 87 of Lower Loomis Brook, Walton, passed away Thursday January 1, 2004 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, after a short illness.

Mrs. Shackelton was born January 1, 1917, in Trout Creek, the daughter of Sherman and Mareah Cummings Wilcox, and lived in the Walton area her entire life.. On December 24, 1934 she married Glenn S. Shackelton Sr. He died December 4, 2002. She was employed as a scintilla inspector at Bendix Corp. in Sidney. She also assisted her husband in the operation of her family dairy farm. She was a member of the Trout Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn S. and Doug Brown of Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico;, Mareah E. and Dick Allen; two sons: Glenn S. and Mickey Shackelton; Ben L. and Colleen Shackelton; all of Walton; one sister: Georgianna Merwin of Trout Creek, NY, two brothers: Charles Wilcox of Watertown, NY, and Arthur "Bob" Wilcox of Port Orange, FL; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, several neices, nephews and cousins..

She was predeceased by a sister Laura Hoag.

A graveside service will be held at the Walton Cemetery, in the spring. There are no calling hours.
