Eugene E. Steinbacher, 81, of Columbia , Kentucky passed away in the town of Sidney, at his daughter, Lorri's home on the family farm, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 11, 2010.
Eugene was born on June 13, 1929 in Sidney Center, the son of the late Maximilian and Marie Schumm Steinbacher on the family farm where he was born and raised in the town of Sidney Center where he resided until retirement and then moved to Columbia, Kentucky in 1997. He was married to the former Diana Sutton.
He was employed by Del-Met of Walton NY for many years as a Tool & Dyemaker. He was a member of the Vets Club of Walton, and the Brethren in Christ Church, Columbia.
Eugene is survived by his loving family, his wife; Diana, his children, Veda (Robert) Neish, Phoenix; Maximilian Steinbacher, Unadilla; Eugene Steinbacher, Atlantic City, NJ; Lorri (Mark) Kendrick, Sidney; Joseph Saam, Guilford; Angela (Brett) Sutton, Jamestown, KY; his grandchildren, Tonya, Jessica, Gregg (Cheryl), Ricky, Matthew, Chelsea, Mark (Jamie), Maria; his great grandchildren, Sydney, Ashley, Tyler, Quintin, Cassie, his best friend, Horst (Judy) Moeller, Sidney; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Daniel Steinbacher and a sister Margaret Belmont.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 1 PM at the Walton Cemetery,55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Rev. J. Richard Lehman officiating. There are no calling hours.
The family of Eugene would like to say a special thank you to Lynette Gray of Hospice, who took such great care of Eugene.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Eugene's memory to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, New York 13820.
Following the service, family and friends may gather after the service at Mark & Lorri Kendrick's in Sidney.
