Florence M. Martin, 87, a longtime resident of Downsville, passed away on Thursday afternoon, September 20, 2012 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford following a long illness.

Florence was born May 16, 1925 in Paterson, NJ the daughter of the late Fred and Florence (McGilvery) Noble. On May 4, 1946 she married Wesley Martin in Paterson, New Jersey. He died on September 27, 1996.

Florence was employed as a waitress at the Roundup Ranch in Downsville, for many years. She was a member of the Colchester Community Church, and the Downsville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time with her family, she also enjoyed playing dominos and cards, listening to Country Music, and doing crossword puzzles.

Florence is survived by her loving family, her children, Joyce and Loren Skiff of Walton, Wesley and Janet Martin of Henderson, NC; Ethel Frein of Philip, South Dakota; Florence and Gregory Hale of Downsville; Lori and Michael Givney of Johnsonville, NY; her grandchildren, Denise and Jake Mead, Wade and Sue Martin, Cory and Trish Martin, Morgan Frein, Wendy Hale, Brian Hale, Brett Givney, her great grandchildren, Matthew, Rylie, Erin, Alyssa, Lily, Emma, her brother, Fred (Sadie) Noble of Hawthorne, NJ; her sister, Alice Humphrey of Oxford, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Hamby, and her brother in law, James Humphrey.

A Memorial service will be held on October 4, 2012 at 11AM at the Colchester Community Church, 15151 State Highway 30, Downsville with the Rev. Dale Ashby, officiating.
