Florence F. McDonald, 75 a lifelong resident of Walton, NY, passed away Wednesday evening, at home, surrounded by her family.

Florence was born in Walton (Loomis Brook) on February 16, 1934 the daughter of the late Mac and Lelia (Tuttle) Finch. She was a graduate of Walton High School, class of 1953. On September 15, 1956 she married Ralph J. McDonald Jr at the Methodist Parsonage in Walton. Florence was employed for 30 years as a cashier for the Walton Great American.

Florence was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Walton where she served on the rummage sales, the memorial and church dinners and the United Methodist Women's Circle. She was also a member of the Walton Historical Society, the Delaware Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Walton Fire Depts.,Ladies Auxiliary and her friends at her Coffee Klutch. Florence loved nature and fed all the animals in her yard. It was not unusual to see deer, turkeys, chipmunks, squirrels, and countless birds hanging around her feeders waiting to be fed. She also loved to garden where her yard and her home were always just the way she wanted it. Florence loved spending time with her family and her grandsons, Branden and Cody were her pride and joy. Florence also was a dealer for antique furniture and jewelry. She often gave talks on antique jewelry to many groups and schools.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Karen (Gene) Gabriel, Walton; 2 grandsons, Branden and Cody Gabriel, a brother, Roland (Sharon) Finch, Walton, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Richard and Mack Finch and a sister Esther Budine.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY. A funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 101 North St., Walton.with the Rev. Mark Del Giudice, officiating.

Interment will follow in Paige Cemetery, Downsville.
