Floyd E. Weidman passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. He was 86. Floyd was the son of the late Karl and Martha Knecht of Schoharie, New York.
Floyd grew up on a farm in Schoharie. He graduated from Middleburgh Central School. After graduation, Floyd proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed by General Electric in Schenectady, New York for 25 years. After retiring, Floyd enjoyed maintaining the lawns for the ARC homes in the Middleburgh area. He married the former Mary D'Addezio of Downsville on August 26, 2002.
Floyd was a member of the Middleburgh Ambulance Corp. for 15 years. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 20 years. He always cherished the friendship of his fellow ski patrol colleagues.
In addition to skiing, one of Floyd's favorite pastimes was reading novels written by James Patterson. He enjoyed woodworking and dancing. One of his most accomplished woodworking projects was building the windows for his step-daughter and son-in-law's refurbished dairy barn. Floyd had a soft spot in his heart for furry creatures, including his beloved Black Lab, Dana.
Floyd is survived by his wife Mary of Downsville; his children Jerry Weidman of California, Sandra (Shane) Larsen of Utah, Daniel Weidman of Florida and Cathy (Dan) McMinn of Illinois, Larry (Susan) Hoyt of Delancey, Michele (Richard) Osterhout of Port Crane, Kristie (Richard) Robinson of Walton, and Cindy Barnes (Ken Crocker) of Colesville, NY. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Josh Weidman and Daniel Long; a daughter in law, Hunn Weidman.
Keeping with Floyd's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton.
