Frances Marie Truman, 87 of Walton, passed away early Sunday morning, June 17, 2012, following a long illness.
Frances was born in Plainfield, NJ on November 30, 1924 the daughter of the late Walter G. and Marie Johnson Doyle. On June 22, 1946 she married Fred Charles Truman of Walton in Hazelton, PA. He died on April 30, 1994.
Frances was employed by the Amphenol Corporation in Sidney for 30 years, retiring in 1984. In her spare time you would find her filling in for her husband, Fred driving for Truman's Taxi.
Frances was an active member of the Women of the Moose, Sidney; the American Legion Auxiliary, Walton; a member of Walton Senior Citizens Club; Hamden Senior Citizens and a past officer of the Delaware County Senior Council.
Frances enjoyed playing pinochle, doing word search puzzles, attending senior meals, and spending time in her new home. She also enjoyed bus trips, eating out, especially at benefit breakfasts and dinners, crocheting, knitting, and in the winter months wearing one of her famous and colorful handcrafted hats.
Frances is survived by a son, James (Ellie) Truman, Walton; daughter-in-law, Donna Truman, Walton; grandchildren, Meredith Bakker, Dustin (Jessica) Truman, Michelle (Pete) Truman, all of Walton, Jenny (Paul) Hutkowski, Rochester; Michael Roberts, Washington, DC; great-grandchildren, Faith and KT Bakker, Cadence and Zander Stanton, all of Walton; Lily, Andrew, Timothy and Zachrey Hutkowski of Rochester and Owen and Emett Roberts of Quakertown, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Frances was predeceased by a son Walter Truman, brothers, Walter (Shirley) Doyle, Robert Doyle, sister Jean McClenon, sister-in-law Leona Truman, nephews, David and Michael McClenon.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday evening, June 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday with the Rev. Bert More, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Matsuo and staff for their passionate and loving care. Memorial contributions in Frances' memory may be made to either Walton EMS, 61 West St., Walton, NY 13856 0r Walton Senior Dining Center, 15 Benton Ave., Walton.
