IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Franklin L.
Foote
August 17, 1933 – June 30, 2017
Franklin Foote joined his wife Donna in the forever after on Friday, June 30, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Son of Floyd and Blanche (Merrill) Foote, he was born on August 17, 1933 in the Town of Colchester, where he would spend his entire life. He began his education in the one room school house on Campbell Brook, which would eventually become his home. He graduated from Downsville Central School in 1950 and joined the Army in 1953. He proudly served our Country during the Korean War; stationed in Austria. On September 17, 1960 he married Donna McAdams, who predeceased him on January 2, 2004; together they had three children, Sherman, Dianne, and Russell. Frank was a jack of all trades – working in quarrying, farming, construction, and demolition.
He and, longtime friend, Charlie Burlingame were the owners of Foote and Burlingame, a well-known local concrete, excavation, and sanitation company. He was always willing to lend a hand to a friend. He would work dawn to dusk and you could always find him tinkering on a tractor, a car, or some other machinery. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting bottles and other treasures he would pick up on his garbage runs or around the remains of old foundations. He was a member of the James S. Moore American Legion Post #167 and the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church of Downsville.
Frank is survived by his loving family, his children, Sherman Foote, Downsville, Dianne and Ron Palmatier, Bainbridge, Russell and Amelia Foote, Downsville, grandchildren, Sherman Jr and Brenda, Jesse James, Donna Jo, Dylan and Stephanie, great-grandson Joshua, sister Grace and Joe Tabarrini and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Agnes Foote.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday afternoon, July 5, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton where services will be held at 6 PM with Pastor Edward Lowell, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held Thursday morning at 11 AM at Paige Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Frank's memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820, Downsville Alliance Church, State Rt. 206 Downsville, NY 13755, or a charity of one's choice.
