Frantz "Frank" Jeanniton, 58, of Hamden passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010, unexpectedly at home.
Frank, as he was known by his many friends, was born on March 29, 1952 in Port Au Prince, Haiti; the son of Willy and Anne (Yeoman) Jeanniton. He married the former Mary Farinick on May 20, 1989. He proudly served his country in the US Army.
Frank enjoyed hiking, martial arts, meditation, and walking on the beach at Block Island. His favorite hobby was hanging out with his best friend, his wife and lover, Mary. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Walton.
Frank was known far and wide as a great chef. He and Mary owned and operated the former New Caledonia Tea Room in Delhi, the Hamden Inn Kitchen, the Corner Cafe Restaurant in Roscoe and presently, West 38 St. Restaurant in Walton, where his culinary creations surpassed his customers expectations. He was always very proud of the meals he created and wanted to make sure his customers had enough food and were satisfied. One of Frank's proudest culinary moments was in the mid 70's, when he was on the team at West Point to prepare the meal for President Jimmy Carter.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Mary, his children, Genevieve LuAnn Jeanniton-Roberts, Spring Valley, NY; William Frantz (Linda) Jeanniton, Charlotte, NC; Michelle Gail (Spencer) Jeanniton-Garrett, NC; Christopher (Paula) Jeanniton, Savannah, GA; Natasha Jeanniton, Hamden; Nicole Jeanniton, Hamden; his mother, Anne Jeanniton, Deltona, FL; mother and father-in-law, John and Barbara Farinick, Pompton Plains, NJ; special daughters, Lindsay Seyforth, Hamden and Kylie Walley, Corbett; 9 grandchildren, Desiree Roberts, Bryanna Roberts, Ryan Roberts, Susan Jeanniton, Reyna Jeanniton, Juliette Jeanniton, Michael Garrett, Tracie Garrett, and Morgan Garrett; 1 brother, Willy Jeanniton, Deltona; sisters, Maggie (Alan) Martelly, Peachtree City, GA; Marline (Jerry) Wright, Florida; Michlene (Jerri) Reimers, Deltona; Mirgee (Mickey) Jeanniton, Florida and Raymonde Cuezas, Deltona; brother and sister-in-laws', Bruce and Pamela Farinick, Sayreville, NJ; Charlie Farinick, Norwell, MA; Christine (Kevin) Siebel, Ft. Mills, SC; Katie Kiewitt, Jacksonville, FL., and David Farinick, Pompton Lakes, NJ. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Willy, a brother, Ulrick Jeanniton and a sister, Adeline Angluade.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 5 at Saint John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 17-25 Benton Avenue, Walton, NY with Rev. Michael Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Following the services on Thursday, family, friends and loyal customers are invited to West 38 Street to celebrate Frank's life.
