Freda S. Adams, 93 of Walton, passed away early Thursday morning, February 19, 2009 in the Countryside Care Center, Delhi, after a long illness.

Freda was born in Downsville, on March 26, 1915, the daughter of the late Fred and Mildred (Rowland) Shields.

On November 12, 1932 she married Giles Adams. He died August 4, 1988.

She was very active in her church and attended church services at Countryside since she moved there 5 years ago. She also very active in the Willowwemoc Chapter 304 of Downsville, Order of the Eastern Star.

Freda worked at Smith Hospital for Dr. Walter Ells and also for Roscoe Nursing Home for several years. In addition to working with the family business, HL Adams Dairy, until 1970.

Freda is survived by two daughters: Ruth (Walt) Sadecki of Northfield and Joan (Donald) McBuney of Pittsburg, PA; two sons: David (Joan) Adams of Walton, Robert (Elizabeth) Adams of Dacula, GA; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; Four sister-in-laws, Margaret Shields of Walton, Eunice Fitzgerald-Deming of Sidney, Dorthy Adams of Abingdon, VA and Lucida Adams Tuff of Seattle, WA, and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Robert & Clifton Shields, 2 sisters, Evelyn Barringer and Marjorie Gladstone and a granddaughter, Kristine Kalman in 2004 and a grandson Joshua Adams.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11:00AM at the United Presbyterian Church, Corner of East & North Streets, Walton, with the Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays Officiant. Burial will be at Walton Cemetery.
