Frederick M. Alvarez, 53, of Walton passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at home.

Fred was born on January 16, 1959 in Queens, the son of Dr. Fernando E. and Theresa (Andrela) Alvarez. He married Sheila McParland on July 18, 1989 in Queens, NY.

Fred was a graphic artist and musician. He enjoyed playing the Ewi, singing in church, fractal art and studing and evangelizing the Word of God. He was a faithful member of the New Hope Community Church.

Fred is survived by his loving family, his wife, Sheila, two daughters, Ariel Alvarez of Medford, NY, Bethany Alvarez of Walton; two sons: Max Alvarez and Elijah Alvarez both of Walton; his mother Theresa Alvarez, Walton; two sisters: Cynthia (Rich) McHugh of Walton; Christina (Rich Daniels) Alvarez of New Jersey; and three brothers: Raymond (Nancy) Alvarez of Holbrook, NY, Alex (Norma) Alvarez of Florida; Russell (Vanesa) Alvarez of Walton; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his lifelong buddies from the Popeye Patrol, plus the many friends he made along the way.

Fred was predeceased by his father, Dr. Fernando E. Alvarez in 2011.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the New Hope Community Church, 45 Stockton Ave., Walton where services will be held 12 Noon on Saturday, February 25, 2012 with the Rev. Larry Light officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
