Genevieve M. Salton, 90, formerly of Stockton Avenue, Walton, passed away Saturday evening, October 8, 2011 at Our Home Away from Home, Sidney, following a long illness.

Genevieve was born on August 22, 1921 in Walton, the daughter of the late Herbert and Edna (Charles) McCall. She was married to Jack Salton on August 29, 1940. He passed on July 6, 1990. Genevieve was a former member of Christ Episcopal Church, Walton; the Eastern Star, the Sarasota Garden Club, the Friendship Knots Quilters Guild,and in sewing and painting clubs here and in Florida. She was an amazing gal, artist, silversmith and floral arranger who loved playing the piano. She and Jack spent many happy years in Sarasota, Florida, enjoying their golden years. Her home was a showplace and gallery from art she created and collected. Her quilts were works of art.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Roland) Finch, Walton; David (Valerie) Salton, Binghamton, daughter-in-law, Sue Salton, Binghamton, 9 grandchildren, Lori (Martin) Fisher; Debra Finch, Jon (Trina) Finch, Tadd (Judi) Salton; Tia Salton, Tamara Salton, Jennifer (Phil) Jones; Garrick Salton, and Jarod Salton, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-greatgrandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Genevieve was predeceased by a son Brian Salton in 1993, a grandson, Brian Howard II; a brother, Russell McCall and a sister, Elaine Loker.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday morning, October 12, 2011 from 9 to 11 AM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton where services will be held at 11 AM with the Rev. Suzanne Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
