George Hardy, 84, of Downsville, formerly of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Delhi Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, following a long illness.

George was born on May 9, 1939 in New York City, the son of the late George and Mae (Bowman) Hardy.

George was a Forklift Operator for Lowes in Newport News, Virginia for many years. He enjoyed watching westerns, and he loved animals especially cats and dogs.

George is survived by his significant other, Beverly Stanton of Downsville, New York, children, George Hardy, Jr. of SC; Tim Stanton of Downsville, NY; Terry (Leslie) Stanton of Williamsburg, VA; Debbie (Wayne) Buel of Florida; Midge (Neil) Bivens of Downsville, NY; Sue Marr of Newport News, VA; Becky Stanton of Newport News, VA; his Grandchildren, Lexus Hardy (Ralph) of Livingston Manor, NY; Damian Hardy and Joseph Hardy of SC, Ashley (John) Wall, Downsville, NY; Dillon Bivens, Downsville, NY; Michael Thomas, (Stephanie) of Philadelphia, PA; Robbie Thomas (Jessica), Newport News, VA; and several great grandchildren.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
