78,
passed
away
on
November
6,
2012
at
his
home
in
Downsville,
NY.
He
was
born
March
15,
1934
in
New
Haven,
Connecticut,
a
son
of
the
late
Laurence
and
Barbara
Peck.
He
attended
The
Gunnery,
Emerson
College
and
Brown
University
where
he
was
a
member
of
the
Crew
team
and
president
of
the
Glee
club.
George
served
as
an
Army
Medic
during
the
Korean
War
and
became
a
member
of
the
Sons
of
the
American
Revolution.
For
most
of
his
life
George
resided
in
Lower
Manhattan.
He
was
the
Treasurer
of
New
England
Health
Services
and
a
Medical
Salesman.
For
many
years
he
ran
a
poetry
reading
series
at
the
Ear
Inn
where
he
also
bartended.
At
age
70,
he
retired
to
Downsville
where
he
owned
a
house
as
well
as
a
"Silver
Bullet"
Airstream
trailer.
George
was
a
unique
character,
philosopher,
and
conversationalist.
He
loved
to
write,
create
art,
read
the
New
Yorker,
listen
to
jazz,
and
feed
the
neighbor's
dogs
that
would
visit
every
day.
He
was
a
proud
father,
brother,
uncle,
grandfather,
and
friend.
The
eldest
of
5
children,
George
was
predeceased
by
his
siblings
MaryJo
Davis,
Russell
Peck,
and
Phyllis
Martindale.
He
is
survived
by
his
brother
Laurence
Peck,
his
sons
George
Peck
lll
and
Eiko
Peck,
his
daughters
Troy
May
and
Mizuo
Peck,
and
many
nieces,nephews,
and
cousins.
He
is
also
survived
by
his
first
wife
Lucinda
Prew,
mother
of
George
and
Troy,
and
his
grandchildren
Kama
and
Amber
May.
He
married
Sanae
Mizusawa
in
1977,
mother
of
Mizuo
and
Eiko.
She
predeceased
him
in
1984.
In
lieu
of
flowers,
memorial
contributions
may
be
made
in
George's
memory
to
a
charity
of
one's
choice.
Cremation
was
at
Hillington
Crematory,
Morris.
On
Sunday
November
18th
at
2pm
there
will
be
a
gathering
in
his
honor
at
the
Ear
Inn,
326
Spring
Street,
NYC.
A
burial
is
planned
beside
his
wife
and
parents
at
Mt.
Carmel
Cemetery
in
Hamden,
Connecticut
on
December
1st.
