George Phillip Tennant, 69, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 9, 2011.

George was born in Walton on Sept. 20, 1941, to the late Basil H. Tennant and Gertrude Burghart Tennant. He was one of 13 children.

He attended Walton Central School and had served three years in the Army. He was stationed in Washington, D.C., and Germany.

On May 15, 1965, he married the former Linda Allen, who resides at home.

George was employed at Scott Machine Company for 20 years as a night janitor in Walton.

He enjoyed working with his cattle and his antique Case tractors.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Courtney Funeral Home, where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery with full military honors.
