Georgia H. Jamieson of Walton passed away at home on November 22, 2012. Georgia was born in Delhi to Henry and Mabel (Purcell) Haynes on November 8, 1920. She was a graduate of Walton Central School and the Rochester Dental Institute where she received her degree in Dental Hygiene.
During WWII Georgia worked at Scintilla in Sidney. On November 10, 1946 she married Arthur Jamieson at the United Presbyterian Church in Walton. For many years, Art and Gerry operated Walton Music House in the home, First at 106 Townsend Street, then at 20 Liberty Street. Gerry gave piano lessons at the music house and operated the business while Arthur taught music at the Walton Central School.
Georgia was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Walton where she taught Sunday school when her children were growing up. She sang alto in the choir for many years, and sometimes played piano for Sunday services at Countryside Care Center.
In their retirement years, Art and Gerry traveled to Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii, and enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.
Georgia is survived by her sons, Rex (Cheryl) Jamieson of Dale City, VA; Larry (Joanne) Jamieson, Ted (Tammy) Jamieson, all of Walton; her sister, Dorothy Beers of Port Charlotte, FL; and several grandchildren, Kevin Rutherford (Debra Renwick) of Walton; Nathan (Tara) Jamieson of Seattle, WA; Lauren Jamieson (Amanda Moore) of Buffalo, NY; Daniel Jamieson of Oneonta, NY; Jared Jamieson of Stafford, VA; Joshua and Joy Brendel (T.J.) Dale City, VA; Rebecca Ferby (Jordan) of Utica, NY; Sheila Jamieson of Brooklyn, NY; and a great grandchild, Margaret Jamieson of Dale City, VA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur on May 16, 2009, a daughter, Patricia Jamieson Rutherford, in 2000, and her sister Marcia "Mickey" Oberg.
Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November, 26, 2012 at 11 AM at the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East Street, Walton with the Rev. Lisa Ruth Mays, officiating.
