Gerard J. Muratore, 87, of Walton passed away on Thursday evening, August 25, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born on April 23, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Salvatore and Irene (Vezzuso) Muratore. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. On October 3, 1971 he married the former Adeline Ehlers at the Seaford Methodist Church on Long Island.
Jerry was a Tech Teacher in New York City before retiring to Walton. He was a member of the Amityville Lodge # 977, F&AM and the Northfield Community Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and boating.
Jerry is survived by his loving family, his wife, Adeline, children, Patricia (Joseph) Agricola of FL; Michael (Laurie) Muratore of LI; step children, Thompson Whiteside of Walton; Jack (Dawn) Whiteside of Walton; William Whiteside of Walton; Cathy (Kim) Armstrong of DeLancey; George Whiteside of Walton; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister, Connie Bromwell of Staten Island,sister-in-law, Barbara Muratore, Florida, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Joe, and Jack, sisters, Millie, Josephine, Jenny, and Rose Marie.
Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, from 11 AM to 1 PM where service will be held at 1 PM with Pastor Marv Root, Officiating.Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
