Gertrude W. Fitch, 82, of Walton passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY following a long illness.

Gert was born on February 19, 1936 in Walton, the daughter of the late Earl and Jennie (Barnhart) Wood. On May 30, 1953 she married Howard G. Fitch. He died on June 5, 1996. Gert was a Nurse's Aide at Countryside Care Center in Delhi, NY for many years. She enjoyed playing pitch with friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and her grandchildren.

Gert is survived by her loving family, her children, Victor (Ida) Fitch of Sidney, NY; Dawn (Fred) Haynes of Sidney, NY; Ronald (Melanie) Fitch of Walton; grandchildren, Raven and Andy, Shelly and Jason, Heather and Lance, Melissa and Hilton, Frederick and Amber, great grandchildren, Anthony, Mikayla, Christian, Adrianna and Joey, McKenzie, Sebastian, Duncan, Dylan, Damien, Tegan, Malik, Dametri, Brayton, Aidan, Harper, Lucas, Colton, brothers, Donald and Chris Wood of Unadilla; Earl and Ella Wood of Walton, NY; sisters, Georgianna McCall and Niles Wilson of Walton, NY; Margaret and Howard Robinson of Sidney, NY; Jean Gardepe of Walton, NY; special friend, Lil Darling of Walton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by sisters, Joyce Fitch and Sherry Smith.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 17 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services will be held at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery, Walton.
