Gertrude N. McClenathan, Formerly of East Brook Rd., Walton, died Wednesday morning, April 15, 2009 at Countryside Care Center, Delhi. She was 100 years old.

Gertrude was born on December 20, 1908 in the Town of Walton, the daughter of the late Alfred G. and Emma Coulter Neale.

On February 19, 1949 she married Aleck L. McClenathan in Auburn, he died on March 28, 1986.

Gertrude retired on December 31, 1963 from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County after 32 years of service as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a 75 plus year member and Past Matron of Willwemoc - Downsville Chapter #304 Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Walton Frist United Methodist Church and a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Gertrude is survived by several cousins including Jeanette MacDonald and Bruce Neale of Walton and Esther Cash of Delhi; her dear friend and neighbor Mary Mehegan of Walton and also longtime friend Frances Watson of Walton; and many, many friends throughout the area.

Friends and Family are invited to call from 12 noon until 1PM on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where funeral services will follow at 1 PM with the Rev. Mark DelGiudice officating. Burial follow in Walton Cemetery.
