Obituary

Gladys M. Crane, 82, a resident of Walton since 1972 when she moved from New Jersey passed away, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Bassett Healthcare Hospital in Cooperstown, N.Y. following a long illness.

Gladys was born June 7, 1928 in Bloomingdale, N.J. the daughter of the late Russell and Jenny (Elliott) Cole. On June 14, 1945 she married George Crane in Pennsylvania. He predeceased her on December 7, 1987.

She enjoyed knitting, doing word searches, baking for Delaware County Fair, she was an avid outdoors woman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was a member of Otschodela Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America, the Walton Grange, a former member of the United Presbyterian Church, and present member of Christ Episcopal Church.

She was employed by Picatinny Arsenal in Dover New Jersey as a Chief Purchasing Agent for 33 years, retiring in 1983.

Gladys is survived by one daughter, Dinah Crane, Warwick; six grandchildren, Lisa DeFreese, Warwick; Sharon (Jim) Brennan, Walton; Michael Wyble, Warwick; Russell DeGroat, Florida; John (Crystal) Scofield, Walton; Pepper (Dennis) Gillian, Warwick; her brother Donald (Jean) Cole, Masonville; her special friends, Lynn Demarest, Walton; Jack Williams, Bath; Dorothy Peloso, Walton;15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by a daughter Bernice Scofield and a brother Floyd Cole.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 4 to 7 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday December 20, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church at 1 PM, 41 Gardiner Place, Walton, NY with Mother Suzanne Cole officiating. Burial to follow at the Walton Cemetery.
