IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gladys H.
Knapp
September 26, 1916 – June 20, 2015
Gladys H. Knapp, 98, of Walton and formerly of Andes passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Gladys was born on September 26, 1916 on Cross Mountain in Margaretville, the daughter of the late Frank and Genevieve (Gavett) Hall. She married Bursie Knapp in December of 1943.
Gladys will be most remembered for her ability to grow things; from her amazing vegetable gardens to her African violets that were her pride and joy. Gladys enjoyed canning her produce, sewing and crocheting. She was a remarkable seamstress who could sew without a pattern; many times adding her own "touch" to the piece she was working on. She would crochet intricate patterns into beautiful doilies.
Gladys is survived by her loving family; her daughters, Patricia Valentino of Camden, NY; Joyce Wagner of Rifton, NY; Joan (David) Adams of Walton, NY; her sons, Robert Knapp of Walton, NY; Bursie (Joyce) Knapp of High Ridge, MO; 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, her very special niece who meant so much to her, Deb O'Neil Dlugosz of Jacksonville, Fl. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sister, Juanita Burger.
Family and friends are invited to her funeral service on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 1PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton with the Rev. Lisa Ruth Mays, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andes Cemetery, Andes, NY.
Memorial Contributions in Gladys's memory may be made to: Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, New York 13820.
