Glenn S. Shackelton, Jr., 87, of Walton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, following a short illness.
Glenn was born on February 23, 1936 in Bainbridge, the son of the late Glenn and Emma (Wilcox) Shackelton, Sr. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. On December 27, 1957 he married the former Dorothy Kilmer in the Walton Presbyterian Church.
Glenn worked as a Truck Driver for Breakstones in Walton retiring following 40 years of service. He was a Pilot and he enjoyed restoring cars, most notably a 1957 Chevy Truck, and a 1929 Model A Ford. He was a member of the Truman C. Tobey Post in Walton and Model A Ford Club of America, where he was Master Judge for over 10 years.
Glenn loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved his Kitchen aid mixer and was a great baker. His specialty was Cheesecake and sticky buns.
Glenn is survived by his loving family, wife, Mickey, daughter, Tina Avery of East Greenbush, grandchild, Ashleigh (Jeremy Pratt) of North Greenbush, great grandchildren, Jackson and Caroline, sisters, Carolyn Brown (Doug) of NM; Mareah Allen, and sister-in-law, Wanda VanBuren (Robert) of Walton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, mother in law, Ruby Kilmer, brother, Ben Shackelton, and sister in law, Beverly Kilmer.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11 AM at the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton. Arrangements are under the care of Courtney Funeral Home, Walton. A Luncheon will follow at the New Hope Community Church, 45 Stockton Avenue, Walton.
