Gloria Madeline Maxey, 87, of Bethpage/Delhi passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford following a long illness.

Born July 10, 1929 at Methodist Episcopal Hospital, Brooklyn, NY daughter of Albert Edward Bellows Jr. and Freda Mehrtens. Gloria spent her elementary years in Valley Stream, LI and later moved to Lynbrook LI in 1942 where she graduated in 1947. In March 1950 she married Ernest Edward Maxey, a blind date that lasted nearly 50 years. Ernie and Gloria resided in Bethpage Long Island, NY. Gloria worked for the Bethpage School District, retiring in 1984 after 21 years. Gloria enjoyed her family, home, gardening, camping and her many dogs. Gloria moved to Delhi in 2006.

Gloria is survived by her loving family, children, Richard (Mary) Maxey of Delhi, NY; Susan (Ronald) Flood of Massapequa, NY; Thomas (Tracy) Evergreen, CO. Grandchildren: Shannan Maxey Ricoy; Samantha (Mike) Clark; Mathew (Alia) Maxey; Kelly (Ray) McQueen; Jessica (Brian) Peters; Ronald Flood; Robert Flood; Brandon Maxey; Jace Maxey; and Dally Maxey. 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest; her brother Albert; 3 grandchildren; Joslyn and Jacqueline (Jackie) Flood; and Christopher Maxey.

The Maxey family would like to thank the many people who cared for Gloria, especially those at Robinson Terrace Courtyard and Catskill Area Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Gloria during her stay there.
