Obituary

Harland E. Walley, 80, of Walton passed away Friday afternoon, August 2, 2013 at Delaware Valley Hospital.

Harland was born on March 22, 1933 in Franklin, the son of the late Frank and Harriet (Seward) Walley. He married Bernice Moore Walley on March 26, 1954. She predeceased him September 2, 1991. He married the former Marilyn E. Corder Bowker on March 12, 1993 in Walton. He was employed by Breakstone's, Walton as a diesel mechanic for many years. He enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, listening to country music by Gene Watson, Willie Nelson and Freddie Hart, coffee @ the Sunoco and socializing at the Delaware County Fair. He also enjoyed watching all the wildlife around his home, like the deer and their fawns, and all the birds feeding just outside their dining room window.

He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Marilyn, his faithful companion, Cricket, two daughters: Sandra Jones of Morris, and Connie Hulse of Sidney; two sons: Harland and Victoria Walley, Jr. of Sidney; and Joseph and Wendy Walley of Mt Upton, step-children: Sheryl Hickson of Beaumont, Texas; Anthony and Cindy Jump of Franklin; Laurie and Gary Enck of Oneonta; grandchildren, Bradley, Michael, Jimmy, Justin, Jordan, Ashlee, Jeffrey, Kim, Renee, Jennifer, Bryan, Bubba, Bobbi-Jo, Eulanda and Alex; step-grandchildren, Thomas, Elizabeth, Adam, Shawn, Eric, Shannon, Heath, Butch and Olivia, special friend, Jim Hulse of Sidney; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Eddie and LaVerne and 4 sisters, Margaret, Irma, Mary and Elsie.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday evening, August 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. Fr. Golding will say prayers at 7 30 PM.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 6 at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Ave., Walton, NY with the Rev. Edward J Golding officiating.

Memorial contributions in Harland's memory may be made to the Walton Volunteer Fire Dept. & EMS, 59-61 West Street, Walton, NY 13856, or the American Heart Association, Box 3049, Syracuse, 13220-3049.

The family would like to thank Joelle Underwood NP, the entire staff at Dr. Dohners office and DVH staff for the tender loving care shown to Harland during his illness.
