Harold W. Bates, Jr., 87, of Walton, passed away on November 8, 2013 at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton.

Harold was born on February 25, 1926 in Parsippany, NJ, the son of the late Harold and Florence (Brill) Bates, Sr.

Harold was a horseshoer/farrier and horse trainer and also worked for Animal Talent Scouts during the winter seasons. He went to work for Roundup Ranch, in Downsville, in 1967 and worked there for 19 years. After that, he took care of privately owned horses until he retired. He was a cowboy and a horseman, who loved and understood horses - they were his life.

Harold was predeceased by his wife, Bernice, in 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Bernice (Sis) and his son, Monte.
