Hazel R. O'Dell, 88, formerly of Walton, NY, passed away Friday evening at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, Blair County, PA.

She was born in Mileses, NY, daughter of the late Floyd L. and M. Gertrude (Earle) Wright. She married William R. O'Dell on January 24, 1943 in Walton, NY. He passed away on September 4, 2006.

Surviving are 2 daughters: Millie Baker of Martinsburg, PA, and Ruth Reilly of Amherst, NY; 4 sons: Charles and Ginny, and James O'Dell both of Walton; David and Bonnie of Liberty; and Bruce and Kathy of Delhi, NY; 10 grandchildren, Kevin, "TJ" Jenifer, Scott, Pete, Tom, Chuck, Jessica, Brett, David;; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Vigus of Martinsburg, PA.

She was preceded in death by a son, William R. Jr. on January 1, 2001.

Mrs. O'Dell was a lifetime member of First Congregational Church in Walton, NY, where she and her husband, Bill formerly served as deacons.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed writing poetry, and loving and spending time with her family.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 PM Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, and from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the First Congregational Church, 4 Mead St., Walton, NY, with Dr. Janet Schwengber, and Rev. Martha Vink, co-officiating. Interment will follow at Walton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be given to First Congregational Church memorial fund, or Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820.
