Helen E Stanton, 86, of Sidney passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Fox Hospital in Oneonta, NY.

Helen was born on November 29, 1925 in Sanford,NY the daughter of the late Alfred and Alma (Wortman) Thompson. On April 1946 she married John Stanton, he predeceased her in 2002.

Helen was employed for many years at The Hospital in Sidney as a Housekeeper. In her spare time she enjoyed doing puzzles, word searches, and watching soap operas.

Helen is survived by her loving family, her children, Yvonne (Fred) Wright of Walton, NY; Paul (Kathy) Stanton of Walton, NY; Mike (Betty) Stanton of Sidney Center, NY; Alfred Gilbert of Norwich, NY; Wayne Gilbert of Endwell, NY; Ronald (Shelly) Stanton of Unadilla, NY; Donald (Tara) Stanton of Unadilla, NY; Edwin (Ronda) Stanton of Sidney Center, NY; Lori Stanton of Oneonta, NY; her 24 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Stanton in 2007, her great granddaughter, Taylor Stanton, her brothers, Irving Thompson, Fred Thompson, Jack Thompson, Ben Thompson, her sisters, Thelma Teller, Mary Gann, Allie Walley, Lillian LeVoy, Florence Meyers, and Minnie Thompson.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 11 AM to 1 PM

at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services will be held at 1 PM with the Rev. Larry Light, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
