Helena M. Minor, 85, of Downsville, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2011 at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown following a long illness.

Helena was born on March 1, 1926 in Downsville, the daughter of the late George H. and Ella Miller Goetschius. Helena was raised in Downsville and later spent 8 years in Florida, returning to Downsville about 20 years ago. She was employed as a home health aide for several years.

Helena enjoyed bowling, western square dancing and crafting. She especially enjoyed setting up at craft shows.

Helena is survived by three children: Robert A. (Terri) Minor of Arizona, Roger D. Minor of Florida and Melody A. Ronko of North Carolina; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Jessica Awanda Houck of Walton and Ella "Peggy" (Bob) Carr of Georgia; close friends: Mickey and Pat McCleanon of Downsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on April 9, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.
