Henry G. Johnson, 84, of Walton, formerly of Brooklyn passed away on Friday morning, July 25, 2008 at Bassett Health Care, Cooperstown following a short illness.
Born on May 7, 1924 in Sweden, he was the son of the late Gus and Helga Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served in the US Army during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, He was employed as a Printer, working with the UAW, District 65 Union in New York, NY, retiring after 30 years of faithful service. During the mid 1990's Henry moved to Walton from Brooklyn.
Henry was a skilled dart thrower and enjoyed shooting darts at the local taverns and also liked to golf. He was avid baseball fan always cheering for NY Mets.
Mr. Johnson was married to Liv Hansen Johnson who passed away in 1981.
He is survived by his sons, Glenn Johnson of Walton and David Johnson of Oxford and several close friends.
Friends may call on Monday evening, July 28, 2008 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where a funeral service will follow at 7 PM with the Rev. Jennifer Matison Juliano officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at 1 PM on Tuesday, July 29, at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, NY.
