Obituary

Herman Hamlin, age 96, of Walton, passed away on Thursday evening, February 11, 2010 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City.

Herman was born December 28, 1913 in Fairfax, VA. He is the son of the late Monroe C. Hamlin and Mahala Henderson.

He married Dorothy Baker November 19, 1934 in Pennsylvania. She passed away on March 12, 2004 after 69 years of marriage.

Herman was employed at Cannonsville Creamery and at S J. Bailey & Sons of Walton.

He had attended Pines Brook Baptist Church and New Hope Community Church.

Herman was a great story teller, he enjoyed reading and had an amazing memory. In his younger years he was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and trapping game.

He is survived by four daughters, Rosanna (Bob) Marshall of Walton, Linda (Jim) Bowker of Walton, Nancy Christensen and Jenney (Wayne) Hamlin Dee both of Florida; a brother, Donald Michael of Virginia; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and also many, many close friends including Pete Moore and Neal Northrup.

Besides his wife, Herman was predeceased by his son, Richard Hamlin; grandson, Darrell Hall, and son-in-law, Charlie Christensen

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. Friends are invited to call on the family one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

A reception will be held immediately following the funeral service at Pines Brook Baptist Church.

Burial will be in the spring at Walton Cemetery.
