Howard A. Anderson, 80, a lifelong resident of Walton and Hancock, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 18, 2012 at home following a long illness.
Howard was born on March 28, 1932 in Pompey, NY the son of the late Hiram and Elsie Kenney Anderson.
Howard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Howard was employed as a Sawyer for Mallory Lumber Company in Hancock. In his spare time he enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family, especially playing cards with the kids. He also enjoyed watching television, NASCAR races and Western country movies in Black and White. One of Howard's favorite pastimes was working on his close friends, Frank and Mary Eggleston's truck.
Howard is survived by his loving family, his children, Rodney and Laurie Anderson, Bonnie Mason both of Walton; Tammy Stanton and Sherry Mallery both of Florida; his grandchildren, Thomas, Christina, Kimberly, Albert, Michael, Jessica, Brittany, James, Jeremy, Marc, his great grandchildren, Bianca, Hayden, Elsie, Toby, Harley, Brendan, April, his brothers, Ralph Anderson of Johnson City; Andy Anderson of Illinois, 2 sisters, Mabel and Edith, the mother of his children, Shirley Wright, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Anderson and a sister, Evelyn Miller.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday, September 24, 2012, from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Howard's memory may be made to Walton Fire Dept., and EMS, 61 West St., Walton, NY 13856.
